Embracing Uncertainty
Harnessing Dis-Order for Personal Growth
The Wilton Library TALK
137 Old Ridgefield Road
Wilton, CT 06897 [Map]
Thursday November 6 at 7PM EST
Join us this evening as Mel Schwartz, visionary thinker, author and psychotherapist shares his insights on catalyzing personal growth.
Mel pioneers a radical new approach to transformation, which integrates many of the remarkable discoveries of the emerging sciences. In doing so, he illuminates how to achieve higher levels of potential into our lives.
"Certainty and predictability, the dominant motifs of Newton's worldview are deeply rooted in our culture and in our thinking. These deterministic features are sought after and prized. We base our lives upon such predictability and they provide for most people a sense of comfort and security.
Ironically, this is not only a false security, but moreover a self-limiting philosophy that actually impoverishes us. Certainty dulls our life experience, for knowing the outcome in advance permits us to sleepwalk through life, not being fully present."
You'll learn how to:
- Enliven your relationships
- Break free from the limitations of your comfort zone
- Shift from states of being to becoming
- Make uncertainty your ally
- Increase your intuition and spontaneity
- Free yourself from issues of control and fear

Emergent Thinking
A Psychology Grounded in the Emerging Sciences
Temenos Institute
29 East Main Street
Westport, CT 06880 [Map]
Friday October 17 at 8PM EST - CLOSED
Mainstream psychology continues to remain, for the large part, rooted in the reductive and analytical tenets of 17th century Newtonian thought. Drawing from the work of Jung, Pauli and David Bohm, Emergent Thinking as a process integrates many of the remarkable discoveries from quantum physics and complexity theory and applies them to a new psychological approach.
This evening's lecture will depict how the Newtonian perspective may well contribute to epidemic levels of emotional and psychological malaise and how the clinician can be liberated from the straitjacket of such an epistemology. In particular, there will be a discussion of these approaches in regard to overcoming anxiety and depression.

How Does the Group Work?
We will meet one evening per week for 2 hrs. There will be a total of 8 classes. By limiting the size of the class, it enables participants to address their particular issues and challenges. This model provides a dynamic way to integrate teaching with actual therapeutic interventions.
Everyone learns through everyone else. The energy of the group's members begin to resonate with each other as the learning and actualization process unfold. Quantum states of potential become actualized on a personal level. There is a continuous interweaving between teaching, questioning and experiential learning. The exploration into new realms of thought and experience produces new realities as the class member's facilitate the emergence of new learning.
