As a psychotherapist and in my personal life, I have often confronted a very disheartening picture: many relationships that begin with the greatest of hopes eventually fade into mediocrity. The loftiness of the love withers; it becomes ordinary. Too often the wonderful visions of an intimate life become clouded the inevitable resignation to joyless relationship.
I have encountered much heartbreak and too many unrealized dreams. I’ve been witness to the dulled conversations and the acceptance of love-less and passion-less lives. And I am saddened by what I see, for I know there is an infinitely loving potential in our souls that remains hidden just beneath the surface.
