A Shift of Mind Blog
The Art of Intimacy, The Pleasure of Passion

Mel has authored over 70 articles and writes the blog A Shift of Mind, which can be read here and on PsychologyToday.com. He is currently writing the book A Shift of Mind: Rethinking the Way We Live.

Mel has pioneered a new model for personal growth and relationship success based upon emerging worldviews. This advance in conceptual thinking enables people to embrace the process of becoming rather than obsessing over their states of being. As a result people live more successful, fulfilling, and productive lives.

“Mel goes well beyond the terrain of an ordinary change agent as he makes the impossible altogether achievable. Mel helps his clients envision and actualize to their greatest potential. To simply refer to him as a psychotherapist is far too limiting. He is a visionary, a mentor and guide, yet full of compassion and empathy.”

– James Mapes, President, The James Mapes Organization

Mel’s work is devoted to assisting people through life transitions such as relationship, divorce, anxiety, depression, self-esteem and personal empowerment, as well as career issues.

He is a noted marriage counselor working with couples locally, nationally and internationally. Mel Schwartz is the author of the acclaimed book The Art of Intimacy, The Pleasure of Passion, which serves as a primer for his relationship counseling.

Mel has crafted a new approach that assists people in transcending their struggles with disorders such as anxiety and depression, without requiring medication or lengthy traditional psychotherapy.

He has also developed a methodology for helping people achieve a mastery of their thinking, freeing them from habitual thoughts and beliefs that constrain their growth and joy. This is known as the Emergent Thinking® process, his breakthrough approach to personal evolution. He teaches this process in person and via web conferencing.

“Mel is a dynamic professional with a breadth of knowledge and practice that is both insightful and heartfelt. His interactions facilitate change while inspiring new directions."

– Leslie Whitcomb, Gaia Psychology

Mel works with individuals, couples and adolescents in Westport, CT, and NYC. Mel also works with clients both nationally and internationally by phone or Skype. He can be reached at 203.227.5010 or Mel@melschwartz.com.
